The Telegraph project is about translating the inaudible and invisible into music and art. In the Flora Telegraph subset, MK connects sensors to local flora to convert the naturally occurring electro stimuli of the biome into sound. Each set of sensors, including purpose-built non-invasive electrodes, is connected to trees on one side and the other is connected to a sound source, such as a synthesizer, that sonifies the electrical energy waves. The aim is to translate these signals into music by controlling the sound sources and adding audio effects, while the trees select the meter and arrangement. The product of some campaigns will be video, in one take, of the process and the finished musical composition; the video will be shot on at least one full spectrum camera that captures images in the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared regions of light.
